Work continues on forming a new taxi bylaw in North Bay that will include ridesharing.

City police Chief Scott Tod tells BayToday it’s taking time to put it together, with summer vacations being one reason.

He also says the local bylaw has unique characteristics that haven’t been seen in other municipalities.

“One being school-purpose vehicles, the second question is in regards to where do we go with limousines in the city, we don’t have a limousine bylaw and what would that look like,” he says.

Tod says there are other questions too.

“Fine schedule and what enforcement would look like,” he says. “Those are all things that we have been back and forth with, with the people that are assisting us to draft the bylaw, it takes time.”

It’s hoped that the bylaw will be shared with the police services board next month.
