North Bay Police and the MTO have wrapped up a collaborative safety inspection initiative that was prompted by vehicle fitness complaints.

It ran from July 10th to September 16th, with police issuing inspection report notices.

Inspections were scheduled for the final day of the blitz, with only seven vehicles passing.

Seven others failed, four voluntarily terminated plates and 10 plates were removed after the vehicle was found to be unsafe and dangerous to the public.

Four vehicles failed to show up.

Permit driving of an unsafe Vehicle – 2
Insecure load – 3
Weight – 3
Expired Plates – 1
Annual Inspection Stickers – 1
Fail To Show – Pending Charges – 4
Total charges – 19

– Wheels / Tires / Mudguards
– Parking Brake Fail To Hold
– Gasoline Leaking
– Width Of Vehicle
– Exhaust Leaking / Improper
– Signal/ Brake/ Tail Lamp Lenses
– Steering Ball & Socket Joints Excessive Free-Play / Suspension Springs Broken
