A local Rally for Climate Action is taking place in North Bay this morning (Friday), to go along with today’s global strike.

The march starts at 11:30 am and travels from the North Bay Museum to City Hall.

This is the third climate strike for ten-year-old Chloe Cook.

“It’s a strike to raise awareness to climate change, to educate people, so they know what’s happening,” she says.

Chloe says she’s inspired by 16 year old Greta Thunberg of Sweden, who started the global climate strikes and ‘FridaysForFuture‘.

The local event goes until 1:30 pm.

Chloe says they rallied over the lunch hour the last time too, which resulted in a lot of people seeing their message.

She says when they get to City Hall today, they plan on meeting with the mayor again.

“Last time we went up to him and talked to him about paper straws and thinking about using more reusable stuff,” she says.

She also has a message for those who don’t think there’s a problem.

“I tell them to do research, I tell them to listen to the science, because it’s already there,” Chloe says.

Overall, she says people can help make things better by educating themselves, buying only what they need and buying second-hand items too.
