City police with a reminder about old cellphones and calling 911

North Bay Police were knocking on doors in the O’Brien and McKeown Avenue area last night.

Around 9:30 pm, they tweeted that officers were canvassing door to door after a 911 call, where a young female was asking for an ambulance, but no other information was available.

About 40 minutes later they tweeted again that no caller was found and hoped it was just a child playing.

But, they remind parents that old cellphones can still call 911 and shouldn’t be used as toys.

We have checked houses in the area and couldn’t locate anyone who called 911. Hopefully the child was just playing and there is no emergency. Parents – keep in mind old cell phones still have the ability to call 911 and shouldn’t be used as toys. Thanks again. #5555
