The North Bay Battalion are looking for their first win of the season as they host Kitchener tonight (Thursday) at Memorial Gardens.

Despite losses to Barrie and Sault Ste Marie last weekend, Coach Stan Butler is seeing some positives in the early going.

“Our shot totals are down compared to last year by eleven or twelve a game. That’s encouraging. But we have two young goalies and not a three or four year OHL goalie,” he says.

Butler also says they need to be more aggressive offensively.

“I think we have to be more hungry around the net, to score.  I think we’re getting scoring chances, but we could turn some of those into better chances,” he says.

Good news on that front with Matthew Struthers (pictured) expected back in the lineup tonight.

He also likes the play of the newcomers and they’ll continue to get lots of opportunities to prove themselves.

Broadcast time tonight on Country 600 CKAT is 6:50.

Tomorrow, the Troops are in Sudbury to play the Wolves for the first time this season.
