The Ontario government says it has partnered with Nipissing First Nation to help protect fish stock n Lake Nipissing.

Fish will be sampled for length, weight, sex, maturity, and age this month and next month.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says boaters should know that over the course of two weeks, standardized nets are set for 20 hours in randomly chosen locations.

The nets can be identified by orange and white buoys labelled ‘MNRF’ and should be avoided.

The ministry says important fish information will help to manage the whole lake ecosystem and in particularly in the recovery of the walleye population.
