The union representing 55,000 education workers in Ontario says talks will take place tomorrow as both sides try to head off a potential strike.

CUPE gave notice on Wednesday that its members would walk off the job on Monday, and later announced that contract negotiations will resume tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 pm.

On their website, the Near North District School Board says they’re hopeful a settlement can be reached before Monday.

They say further updates and information will be provided as it becomes available.

Community use of schools was suspended at the board yesterday after the start of Monday’s work-to-rule campaign by the union.

At the Near North District School Board CUPE represents a number of school level employees including custodians, school clerical staff, IT and librarians.
