Recapping local hockey on the weekend, the North Bay Battalion lost 5-1 in Oshawa on Friday night.

Luke Moncada scored the lone goal for North Bay.

The Troops are home to Oshawa on Thursday.

In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos beat Blind River 4-2 on Saturday night.

The Nipissing Lakers started the OUA men’s hockey season with a couple of 4-1 wins over Ontario Tech in Oshawa on Friday and Saturday.

 

In OUA soccer, the Nipissing women split their weekend games.

The Lakers won 2-1 over RMC then lost 4-0 to Toronto.

The Nipissing men lost both of their games against RMC and Toronto.

In lacrosse, the Lakers picked up an 11-8 win over the Ottawa Gee Gees.

 

And in NDA football on Friday, St Joseph-Scollard Hall defeated Algonquin 20-10.

Owen Webb threw three touchdown passes to three different receivers with Mike Paquet, Trey Anthony and Jay C Jeanveau each catching TD’s.

Gulia Backer kicked 2 converts.

Paquet, Anthony and Joe Pavone each had interceptions to help the Bears defense.
