It’s called ‘Eat, Think, Vote’ and the Nipissing Area Food Roundtable event with the election candidates goes tonight.

The goal is to help people understand how federal food policy affects residents locally.

Food champions from our area will discuss and pose questions to the Nipissing Timiskaming MP candidates on the topics of:
– sustainable food systems
– food insecurity
– Indigenous food sovereignty
– healthy school food

Tonight’s event goes from 6-9 pm at the Elk’s Lodge in North Bay.

Meantime, we should know later this week how attendance was at the advanced polls in Nipissing-Timiskaming.

Nationally, Elections Canada says an estimated 4.7 million Canadians voted early.

That’s up 29 per cent from 2015.

Not all polls have reported yet and Elections Canada hopes to have a detailed breakdown by province, territory and riding later this week.
