It's election day in Canada

Canadians are heading to the polls today in the federal election.

Five candidates are running in Nipissing-Timiskaming.

The polls are open for twelve hours today, from 9:30 am to 9:30 pm.

Voters will need proof of identity and address to cast their ballot.

Once the polls close tonight, our newsroom will be providing regular updates on the results.

Meantime, Elections Canada says preliminary estimates show 11,069 people voted in the advance polls in Nipissing-Timiskaming.

That’s 1,330 more than 2015.
