If you park your vehicle on the street overnight you’ll have to figure out a new plan starting on Friday.

That’s when winter parking restrictions in City of North Bay go into effect.

Bylaw Enforcement Officer Ron Melnyk says the restrictions run from November 1st to April 15th.

The daily ban starts at 3 am and runs until later in the morning.

“In the Downtown Improvement Area it goes until 6:30 am, any street that has the last block with a cul-de-sac or dead-end it goes until 8:30 am and all other streets until 7:30 am,” he says.

The restrictions are all about helping snow plows do their job effectively.

The change to three end times was made a couple years ago now and Melnyk says they’ve notice a positive difference, especially with the 7:30 am restriction for most streets.

“The plows have been able to get to a lot of these areas that typically have ice build up and snow build up because of parked cars. They’ve been able to get them cleaned now more regularly before the cars block up the streets,” he says.

Parking is also restricted within 12 hours of posting snow removal signs and 24 hours of a snowfall.
