The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives has done an analysis on the impact of higher class sizes in Ontario and resulting loss of teachers in grades 4 to 12, and there are local numbers included.
The study is based on Ontario’s Financial Accountability Office findings of 10,000 job losses by 2023-24.
Local cuts listed include:
– 49 at the Near North District School Board (5 elementary and 44 secondary)
– 13 at the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (1 elementary and 12 secondary)
– 7 at CSD du Nord-Est de L’Ontario (1 elementary and 6 secondary)
– 12 at CSD catholique Franco-Nord (1 elementary and 11 secondary)
