Canadore College is holding their Fall Open house tomorrow.

Hundreds of guests, including prospective students and their families are being welcomed to all three campuses, including the Education Centre on College Drive, the Commerce Court Campus and the Aviation campus near the airport.

The open house goes from 11 am to 2 pm.

Nipissing University is also hosting an open house tomorrow.

There’s campus and residence tours, program sessions, an information fair with faculty and students and more.

Registration starts just before 10 am in the Surtees Athletic Centre lobby.

The last tour is at 3 pm.

Another themed interpretive hike goes tomorrow in Laurier Woods, which officials say are over a billion years old.

This walk will be guided by a geologist and will look at rocks that existed before the Cordillera Region of BC or the Appalachians in the Maritimes.

Saturday’s free hike starts at 10 am from the parking lot at the end of Brule Street.

The Capitol Centre’s major fundraiser is back tomorrow night.

Hops and Vines features food, beer and wine, silent auction, games and plenty of entertainment.

“Local breweries Gateway City Brewery and New Ontario Brewing are going to be there, as well as Highlander. North Brewery is new this year, Sleeping Giant as well,” says Interim Executive Director Cindy Forth.

She says a few wineries will be there too.

“Mark Anthony Wines, Angels Gate Winery and another unnamed, secret winery will be offering samples as well,” she says

Second City Improv All-Stars is the major entertainment.

The launch of the Game of Things app is also taking place at the event.

“It’s a phone app and it’s a free app, I think it’s going to take off and we’re really lucky that they’re going to launch it here,” Forth says.

A mobile device takes the place of all the paper and pencils in the game, and it also allows people to play remotely with friends around the world.

Tickets for Hops and Vines are $90 for their 90th anniversary, and includes a $25 tax receipt.
