A draft version of the new taxi and rideshare by-law is North Bay has been developed.

North Bay Police Chief Scott Tod says right now it’s in the hands of the city legal department.

“The city solicitor will look at it and provide feedback to the Police Services Board and whether the bylaw meets the test that’s required for prosecution and enforcement,” he says.

Tod says other key issues are the ability to audit and inspect licensees.

“The commitment to the board is that once the draft is ready to be shared with the board it will be and then it will be shared with the taxi and rideshare industry once the board approves. After that, a public consultation will take place,” he says.

Officials are looking at the New Year before that’ll happen.
