The recent Lakers Break the Ice on Mental Health event raised $9,000 for local mental health supports.

The event was brought forward by the Nipissing University Sport Marketing class, Lakers hockey and Algonquin Secondary business students.

It included over 1,000 fans going to to Memorial Gardens to cheer on the Lakers varsity hockey teams and support mental health awareness and fundraising efforts.

The funds go to the Community Counselling Centre of Nipissing and NU Listens in delivering essential mental health support programs within the community.
