About $1.5 million is flowing to the area for policing over the next three years.

MPP Vic Fedeli announced the bulk of the money from the Community Safety and Policing Grant, $1.2 million, is earmarked for the North Bay Police Service.

Nearly $300,000 is going to policing in West Nipissing.

The grant can help with deploying frontline officers when and where they’re needed most, and support public safety and community policing initiatives.

“This support will play a crucial role in strengthening community safety in Nipissing,” said Fedeli, in a release.

“Our government is addressing the concerns of our community,” said Fedeli. “That’s why we believe in putting resources directly into the hands of police services, as they are the experts in maintaining public safety and our primary partners in keeping Ontario communities safe.”
