North Bay’s Rob Shaw is looking to represent Canada at the Tokyo Paralympic Games this year.

He’s a top-tier world champion Tennis athlete and tells BayToday he has his sights set on competing at the games.

“It’s a massive goal, we’ve been pushing really hard for the past four years, lots of training, doing two-a-days, getting the proper coaching and support networks around us and we’re there now, we’re in the hunt,” he says.

“We need to be top twelve in the World to get direct access and we’re top nine right now, so going forward this year we have to maintain that ranking going into June, that’s the cutoff date for us. It’s going to be grind for sure, we still have seven or eight tournaments to play before we know,”
Shaw tells BayToday.

He is hoping to represent Canada in both singles and doubles tennis.

Shaw won Parapan Am gold in Peru in the men’s quad singles event in September.
