After 32 years the Credit Counselling Program is closing today (Mon) at the Community Counselling Centre of Nipissing.

Officials say changes in regulations and client preferences over the years have resulted in decreased interest in the program.

They also say anyone who is receiving credit counselling services at the Centre will be picked up by Credit Canada Debt Solutions without interruption.

“We are concentrating our resources on high quality services that address poverty, trauma, mental health and addictions,” says Alan McQuarrie, Executive Director at the Centre.

The Community Counselling Center provides counselling and advocacy to people with addictions, survivors of violence against women and developmental disabilities.

The Centre operates a mental health walk in every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 pm to 4 pm.
