Recently, North Bay Police officers were honored at a special awards ceremony.

Of note, four officers were recognized in connection with a homicide in December of 2018.

Police say they called to a residence where there was an injured person and the assailant was still in attendance.

Police carried the injured male to an ambulance but didn’t make it.

As well, three officers were recognized for their work in connection with a homicide in 2015.

Police entered a building unaware if the assailant was still there.

They put out a fire that had been set in an apartment and police located the suspect in the bathroom.

As well, Constable Jason Long was honored for his work in a joint online child pornography investigation involving police in Toronto, New Zealand and Homeland Security in the United States.

The administrator of a web site was based in North Bay and Long’s work led to two men being arrested in the probe .

Meantime, four officers were honored for the efforts in saving lives through the use of Naloxone. They reversed the impact of someone on an opioid overdose.

And two officers were recognized in a connection with a Lake Nipissing drowning last fall.

Police say the evening started with a collision in which someone fled and ran towards the lake.

Two officers entered the water but were not successful in locating the man.
