The Elementary Teachers Federation has announced the locations of their rotating strikes for next Wednesday — and the Near North Board is on the list.

The union started holding one-day strikes around the province this week and is giving five-day notice for job action next week.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says the governments concern is what these day strikes are doing to the children.

“We’re focused on landing a deal. We want to see a deal be made. It’s time for the union leaders to stop playing those games. This is a cyclical experience and htis escalation is hurting kids,” he says.

The union says their last bargaining session was December 19th.

Once again, elementary teachers at the Near North Board are planning on holding a one-day strike next Wednesday, January 29th.

The Near North District School Board says all of its elementary schools from JK-Grade 8 will be closed on Wednesday. . That includes grade 7 and 8 students who go to either intermediate or secondary schools. All Early Years Programs; Childcare, School Aged Programs and Early On Child and Family Centres will remain open. Schools will be open for community use as well.
