There’s now more free parking options in Downtown North Bay.

One hour of free, on-street parking per day at all pay-and-display areas in the Downtown started on Saturday, Feb. 1st.

Also new is an end to paid parking at 4:30 pm instead of 6 pm, Monday through Friday.

Other changes are coming April 1st, offering reduced quarterly parking permits in the McIntyre garage and eliminating overnight fees for levels one through four.

A 50 percent discount on parking permits for those living within the boundaries of the Downtown Improvement Area is also coming.

Officials say the new initiatives are designed to make parking in the Downtown more convenient and to encourage more people to live in the core of the city.
