The good news is the bitter cold we’re experiencing this morning is expected to be short-lived.

Environment Canada says while an extreme cold warning continues for the North Bay area, the temperature is expected to rise to a high of minus 16 today.

The temperature is then expected to remain steady overnight then continue to rise to a high of minus 6 tomorrow.

Because of the extreme cold this morning, all school buses right across the district are cancelled today (Fri Feb. 14th).

Schools remain open, except for elementary and intermediate classes at the Near North Board.

With the Elementary Teachers Federation is holding a one-day walkout at the board, Near North students in JK to grade 8 do not have school today.

Schools are open to grades 9-12 students at the board.
