Chippewa grade 12 student Mia Cochran has been invited to try out for Israel’s U19 women’s National Soccer Team.

The local school wished her good luck in a tweet Monday morning, saying she flew out last week and is currently trying out at the Wingate Stadium in Netanya.

Some more hardware for North Bay Youth Volleyball Club Lakers teams.

Along with the earlier reported silver medal won by the 14U girls team, the 17U boys also won silver.

They went undefeated until the final where they clinched silver against the host Sudbury team.

Meantime, in Barrie, the U12 Lakers girls team won bronze.

After dropping their semifinal they defeated an Orillia team in three sets to win the bronze medal game.

Next up for both teams is provincials in April in Toronto.
