Details have been announced on the next event for the North Bay & District Multicultural Centre’s “Empowering Women” catering project.

A ‘Taste of the East’ buffet is being held March 25th at Tandoori Plus with food from Bangladesh and Syria being featured.

The group’s first two events sold out ahead of time.

“These women are hard working and it is rewarding to see their work paying off. Some of them have started to take catering jobs and are planning ahead for the Farmer’s market as occasional vendors”, said Vijanti Ramlogan, NBDMC project coordinator.

“Partnering with Tandoori Plus allows the women to have access to kitchen equipment they would not normally have, such as a tandoori oven,”
explained Shahed Mirza.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children under 12.

They’re available at 100 Main East or online at eventbrite, for an additional fee.

Officials say there will be time to meet the chefs and talk about the food.
