North Bay City Council has supported the renewal of an agreement with Metrolinx.

The chair of Infrastructure and Operations Councillor Chris Mayne says Metrolinx helps the city procure transit vehicles.

“The goal is to save money and this will speed up the process of procurement. Metrolinx has standard bidding forms that they submit to all the transit providing companies,” he says.

The deal is in effect until 2024 and with an option for five more years after that.

Meantime, the city is getting a new transit vehicle next year. Mayne says the $620,000 vehicle is wheelchair accessible and will also have security cameras.
