The North Bay Regional Health Centre is now closed to visitors except under exceptional circumstances.

Officials also say patients attending the Emergency Department can bring a maximum of one adult support person.

The hospital says anyone suspecting COVID-19 exposure MUST call the Health Unit or your health care provider.

The Health Unit website says, as of Tuesday afternoon, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the district.

 

With Ontario declaring a state of emergency, Cecil’s Brewhouse and Kitchen says their dining room is closed, effective immediately. They will be offering take-out, delivery and online orders through Skip The Dishes. The Grande Event Centre is closed while Cecil’s Catering will be offering express drop off catering.

All Workplace Safety North locations are closed including the North Bay office.  This  is in effect until April 6.

North Bay City Hall will be closed starting tomorrow. Other city of North Bay buildings will be closed except for those with appointments.

The March 26th seniors fraud session is cancelled.

The next two North Bay City Council meetings have been cancelled. Next meeting is April 21st

North Bay Transit is now running on their summer schedule because of the suspension of classes at schools and post-secondary schools.

All routes are running.

The City of North Bay has announced all arenas, including the Memorial Gardens, West Ferris and Pete Palangio facilities, are now closed.

If residents are visiting City Hall and other municipal facilities that remain open they’re asked to follow public health recommendations about social distancing, safe handwashing and hygiene.

The North Bay Public Library has closed for the immediate future.

In the meantime, they’re looking into possible alternative service delivery options.

The District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board says only essential core services are continuing.

That includes the issuing of social assistance payments.

Recipients are encouraged to set up direct bank deposit if they haven’t already done so.

Officials also say face to face meetings will not be held, the Career Hub at City Hall will be closed and all in-person workshops and training will be postponed.

The Capitol Centre is closed to visitors.

The Capitol Centre says all shows and events scheduled through to April 30th are either cancelled or postponed.

Cineplex has closed all of their theatres across Canada, including Galaxy Cinemas in North Bay, until at least April 2nd. Officials say the re-opening of locations will be reassessed at that time.

 

The Chamber of Commerce says all of their events are postponed until further notice.

Both the Chamber and Downtown North Bay are asking the community to continue to support small business and shop locally.

Downtown officials say some retailers are able to take orders for merchandise by phone and drop it off to your vehicle.

 

Starting on Wednesday, Parker’s Your Independent Grocer will open the store from 8 am to 9 am for seniors 65 years and older only.

Officials say they do not encourage seniors to get out of the house but because of demand they’re offering the service.

 

In Powassan, municipal facilities are closed to the public.

All council, budget and committee meetings are cancelled and the decision has been made to cancel the Maple Syrup Festival this year.

 

And the North Bay Regional Science Fair Committee has cancelled this year’s regional science fair that was scheduled for April 1st.
