The provincial government is providing immediate electricity rate relief for families, small businesses and farms paying time-of-use rates.
For a 45-day period, the government is working to suspend time-of-use electricity rates, holding electricity prices to the off-peak rate of 10.1 cents-per-kilowatt-hour.

This reduced price will be available 24 hours per day, seven days a week to all time-of-use customers, who make up the majority of electricity consumers in the province.

By switching to a fixed off-peak rate, time-of-use customers will see rate reductions of over 50 per cent compared to on-peak rates.

The change will also impact farmers and small businesses.

For inquiries and appointments, residents may contact the Municipality by phone or email. They also remind residents that tax dues dates have been postponed to April 24 and May 22, 2020.

(hospital)

The North Bay Regional Health Centre and the foundation are asking for the public to donate personal protective equipment supplies.

Needed are gowns, gloves, masks and eye protection in high quantities. Items can be dropped off at the receiving department of the hospital from 7 am-3 pm daily.

(Trappers)

The North Bay & District Trappers AAA Hockey Association is suspending all operations until further notice.

This will include tryouts for the coming season, coaching announcements and the Annual General Meeting.

It says once the NOHA and Hockey Canada has approved the return to regular hockey operations the NBDTHA will begin to plan for the 2020/21 season.

(art support for seniors)

A local resident has put out the call for kids to help brighten the day of seniors in North Bay.
Emma Jones says with activities cancelled and visitors on hold because of COVID-19, she wakes up everyday and thinks about seniors at Barclay House where she used to work. That’s why she posted her request on Facebook.
“Just asking if any parents out there with children that would like to get creative and possibly make some artwork or a card, I could figure out a way to get them to the seniors to add a bit of a spark to the day,” she says.
Jones says so far the reception has been great with artwork coming from across Canada.
“I have artwork that is now being mailed to me from Victoria, Vancouver, Pembroke, Sudbury, Guelph and of course, locally in North Bay,” she says.
Jones says all precautions will be taken to keep physical distancing protocols and safety measures in place.
