With non-essential businesses closed across Ontario, Downtown North Bay is offering up suggestions for local residents.

“These are serious and scary times for our entire community. We know that and we want to share our thoughts as we all wonder what will come next”, says Downtown North Bay Board Chair Michelle Trudeau.

Your personal safety and that of your family is paramount now. And if you do need to go out for essentials, or need a meal, then we wanted to offer some reminders,” she adds.

Suggestions include:
– Call ahead to see if a business or service is essential/open
– Consider if the business could use your support through the purchase of gift cards that could be used later, and perhaps you could order by phone, email, or through their website
– Remember that we have a wide array of popular restaurants that are supplying take out, delivery, and in some cases prepackaged or frozen meals
– Be patient and kind with each other – we’re in this together

Trudeau says the city as a whole and the downtown itself are known for resiliency, and that things will eventually improve.

“We’re in this as a community. Our downtown family is as stressed and uncertain as you are. But we know one thing – we’ll be here for you when things return to normal, and we’ll always look forward to being the heart of our city and a place we can all celebrate for its history, its business, its diversity and its determination,” she explains.

“Let’s look forward to getting through this together,” says Trudeau.
