A local artist and educator is hosting an online paint class fundraiser on April 17th.

Marianne Vander Dussen says 100% of all donations are going to support the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation.

She tells BayToday her husband works in the Critical Care Unit, which is directly responsible for caring for COVID-19 patients, so she’s doing everything she can to support his efforts from home.

He stands in the frontlines just facing this massive epidemic wave and so I feel the best thing I can do is, from home, put on my apron, get my paints out and support him from my studio,” she says.

While donations are being requested she says they aren’t mandatory.

“A lot of people are going through some very difficult economic times right now and aren’t in a position to give to the hospital, and that’s okay. I would d rather that they participate, have fun, indulge in some escapism for a little bit,” she tells BayToday.

The foundation will distribute the funds to best support front line workers.
