Nipissing University says local health care workers at the North Bay Regional Health Centre are going to use residences at the Founders House residence and at the Monastery.

Officials say two people can be accommodated in each four-room suite, ensuring a private washroom for each occupant to maintain appropriate physical distancing.

55 suites at Founders House and four more at the Monastery are being made available.

The suites will go a deep cleaning and sanitization process before the suites are turned back to residences for students.

President Dr, Mike DeGagne says this is a way that health care workers can have a safe space to rest and keep members of their own family out of harms way.

(Dickey)

Nipissing University has set up a scholarship fund in recognition of Shelby Dickey.

She was an accomplished member of the varsity Nordic Ski Team and tragically passed away in a cycling accident last year.

Toivo Koivukoski, associate professor and coach of the Nordic Ski Team says she was an extremely hardworking and dedicated individual who brought out the best in others and will forever remain a valued member of the cross-country ski community and Nipissing University.

The scholarship recognizes a female member of the Nipissing University varsity Nordic Ski Team who demonstrates excellence in athletics, academics, and leadership and Emerson Bach is the first recipient of the scholarship award.
