Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says there’s a web site available for businesses and residents to learn the various provincial resources and supports available during COVID-19.

Fedeli says the web site website has been designed to help people and businesses navigate available assistance easily and efficiently, especially at a time when these resources are needed the most.

He says the Ontario’s Action Plan includes $7 billion in additional resources for the health care system and direct support for people and jobs and also has made available $10 billion in support for people and businesses through tax and other deferrals to improve their cash flow, protecting jobs and household budgets.

(more child care services)

The provincial government is expanding emergency child care for a second time to more essential workers.
Another 37 daycare centres are opening to accommodate parents who work in retirement homes, grocery stores and pharmacies.
Child care centres were closed in March under COVID-19 emergency orders but 100 were re-opened for the children of front-line health care and emergency services workers.

(demand for child care workers)

The District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board says there is a demand for emergency child care spaces in the Nipissing District.

A registry has been set up with the goal of recruiting child care workers.

This is in addition to the 74 centre based spaces in North Bay and Sturgeon Falls.

A release points out child care services can’t be expanded until there are additional child care workers in place.

Interested child care professionals and students are encouraged to go to the DNSSAB website https://dnssab.ca/childrens-services/ecc-registry/ for more information.
