The owner of a North Bay grocery business is offering some advice to those businesses that are just re-opening or about to re-open.

Jeff Buckton co-owns Jeff and Tanis No Frills on Lakeshore Drive.

He talked to North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce members in a video conference call on Monday.

One of his messages was to be mentally tough.

“Every person you will deal with is going to have stress or anxiety. It’s very, very important that you have a strong mental attitude going into this,” he says.

He says educate your staff on physical distancing and what six feet looks like.

Buckton recommends putting up glass barriers among other things.

“The cashiers will feel 1,000 times better. And do a lot of cleaning.  That means all surfaces including things people touch, at the checkout and all over cash registers,: Buckton says.

He says in the beginning 90 % of customers were great while 10 % were difficult but things are a lot better now and only two per cent can be described as difficult.
