A 23 year veteran of the OPP has been charged with driving while impaired.

This charge is the 21st motorist charged within the Nipissing West detachment area this year.

OPP says the Temiskaming OPP officer was off duty at the time of the charge.

Police say they located a vehicle near Sandy Falls Road on Highway 17 around 3 pm on Sunday and learned the motorist had been drinking.

The officer was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

In 2019, Nipissing West OPP charged 62 drivers with impaired driving.
