COVID-19 has really impacted the way the North Bay Battalion are getting ready for the CHL Import Draft in late June.

GM Adam Dennis tells BayToday they had hoped to go the U-18, NHL draft live and do in-person discussions, but that’s all changed.

“No different than the OHL Priority Selection, we’ve been forced to pivot, but everybody is in the same boat. A lot more video scouting and a lot more taking advantage of Zoom,” he says.

The Troops have the first overall pick, just like they did in the OHL Priority Selection.

“Our goal is to bring in an impactful guy, we want somebody that’s going to come in and play a role for us, a big role,” Dennis tells BayToday.

He also says it’s important they find the right fit and give the player the chance to succeed.

The online CHL Import draft goes June 30th.
