A 32 year old man has been charged by North Bay Police with assault with a weapon.
Police say last Friday night around 9 pm a father and son were involved in a verbal dispute at a residence on Algonquin Avenue.

Police say the argument turned physical when a sword was retrieved from a bedroom and a male was struck in the face.

In order to protect the identity of the victim, the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing the name of the accused.

The number of criminal offences, calls for service and city police activity all showed increases through the end of April.

The monthly stats show several crime areas are up year-to-date including break and enters, robberies, theft charges and mischief.

Drug charges, assaults and sexual offences are down year-to-date.
