The province says starting next month limited in-person education and training may restart for students at post secondary institutions who were not able to graduate due to COVID-19 closures.

The province says the first phase will allow institutions to reopen to provide in-person instruction to students in essential, frontline, and high labour market demand areas, such as nursing, personal support workers, engineering, and other critical professions.

Canadore president George Burton says this is tremendous news for students and for employers in key sectors who need qualified people to drive Ontario’s economic recovery.

He says he’s pleased with the government’s ongoing commitment to student success and to the colleges’ continued delivery of high-quality programs.

The province says all child care centres in Ontario will be allowed to reopen with restrictions as of Friday.

They include a maximum of 10 individuals in one classroom.

The District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board says this will considerably limit the number of licensed child care spaces that will become available across the District.

The board says emergency child care spaces for the children of essential workers will remain in place until June 26th.

Following this period, families served through emergency child care services will resume their original child care placements.

(ONTC)

Ontario Northland says the Polar Bear Express passenger train will resume operations on June 25th.

The train will operate between Cochrane and Moosonee on Mondays and Thursdays with no dining car.

The train service was suspended in April because of COVID-19.
