We’ve seen line-ups outside grocery stores and other retailers with people waiting to get in, now barber shops and hair salons are getting their turn.
They were given approval by the province to reopen tomorrow (Friday) as part of stage two of reopening the economy.
Owner of Sportscuts on Shirreff Avenue, Frank Castiglione tells BayToday they’re opening tomorrow.
“It is good to get the industry going again and just meeting and talking to people again in the shop, it may be a bit difficult with masks on but very excited to get back,” he says.
He says they’ll be following all protocols and guidelines are are being cautious with plenty of safety measures.
“We are now even further than six feet apart. I added another barrier between all the stylists and the clients so everybody is going to have their own cubicle. I call it the new penalty boxes,” Castiglione says.
He also points out he has ordered 60 more capes so the same cape is not used on people.
Meantime, some salons like Shear Oasis Hair Design on McKeown Avenue are contacting clients to book appointments.
They posted on social media they’ll be back open on Tuesday.
With the phones tied up they suggest clients that are looking to book an appointment to send them a message with their full name and number and the name of their stylist.
