The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is asking people in the Ski Club Road area to take some steps to avoid attracting bears.

It says there have been reports in the last two weeks by home owners of bear sightings.

The ministry says the bears are attracted by garbage, bird food, odours from barbecues and ripe fruit left on trees or on the ground.

It says removing these attractants can help keep bears out of the area.
