The North Bay YMCA and The Village at Canadore College are combining efforts to get seniors up to speed in this digital age.

The two organizations have set up a digital hub called The Digital Inclusion, Seniors Connection and Opportunities Hub.

Nicole Beattie, Vice President with the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario says each senior who registers takes part in a session one day a week for four weeks.

“By teaching them how to use their device and how to do simple daily transactions and connections with their friends they’ll have someone they can reach out to. The feedback has been tremendous,” Beattie says.

She says the sessions run for three hours.

“They get started with an energizer to get them moving and laughing and get connected with each other. Following that there’s a tutorial with a digital device,” she says.

The hub has locations outside at the Y and the college. For more information go to www.ymcaneo.ca

If you’re interested you must pre-register by contacting the y.
