‘Real Love’ beer is back at Gateway City Brewery.

North Bay Pride Marketing Coordinator Jason Maclennan says it’s the second year they’ve teamed up for the limited time fundraiser.

“They did this last year, we sold out, so partial proceeds of 50 cents from every can goes to North Bay Pride to help fund Pride, for things like insurance and all those wonderful costs that we have to carry, and to fund events like we’re doing in September,” Maclennan says.

The golden lager offers a toasty malt backbone with grassy and floral notes from the hops.

Maclennan says collaborations like this are really important, pointing out Gateway City Brewery is also asking questions about becoming a safer space, with North Bay Pride able to direct them to training which is now available through the AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area.

“It’s really important to recognize that you can’t just put up a sticker and say you’re a safe space without actually getting the details behind that and businesses and organizations like Gateway City Brewery are doing that and asking us, and we make sure that we direct them to the right people, and we collaborate on how do we raise money,” Maclennan says.

North Bay Pride is being held virtually in September, with a talent show on the 18th, a concert on the 19th and the 20th is expected to be geared towards family.
