The Health Unit says it’s a fact, there is no risk of carbon dioxide poisoning from wearing face coverings.

On Facebook, officials say despite rumours to the contrary, oxygen and carbon dioxide molecules can freely pass through the face covering and allow for normal gas exchange while breathing.

They say only those with certain respiratory conditions should check with their health care provider before wearing a face covering.
