Over 140 days and counting.

That’s how long the Capitol Centre has been closed because of COVID-19.

Executive Director Katina Connolly says it hasn’t been easy on their operations or community artists, but they’ve been able to weather the storm so far.

She says staff have provided innovative approaches to virtual programming, like online concerts, artist interviews and more.

“Last month we launched our Shared Benefit Summer Concert Series and have been blown away by the support received in response to these events, we have another month of great local acts lined up so make sure you’re not missing out,” she says.

Thursday night’s performance at 7 pm on Facebook is by the acoustic duo cAbiners.

While their online entertainment continues, the theatre remains closed for now.

“Unfortunately due to phase three restrictions we’re unable to welcome you back to the theatre just yet for large public gatherings,” Connolly says. “However, the WKP Kennedy Gallery is open for business!”

Visits to the gallery are by appointment only and there are certain precautions in place too.

Meantime, the virtual On The Edge Fringe Festival is coming up next week (Aug 11-15th).
