The pandemic continues to evolve, but a report coming to council next week shows the city’s projecting a $1.7 million deficit this year.

That’s as of June 30th.

The report says COVID-19 related facility closures and other restrictions have significantly reduced revenues, with losses projected at $5.3 million.

The largest reductions are in user-fee generated revenues within arena services and transit.

The report also says losses are expected to be partially offset by personnel cost savings of about $1.7 million from gapping, layoffs and the cancellation of student hires.

Other cost savings are also anticipated.

Reserves are available to offset the deficit.
