There’s now a plaque honouring former Mayor Jack Burrows outside the North Bay Musuem.

An unveiling took place on Friday with the Burrows family.

The civic square site was renamed Jack Burrows Place as the result of a Council motion last year, which received unanimous support.

Burrows served as a member of city council from 1989 to 1995 followed by three terms as mayor until 2003.

During that time he championed the purchase of the raillands, which now connects downtown with the waterfront.

Burrows passed away in 2013.

The city says a community dedication will be held when large public gatherings are no longer restricted.
