The city is receiving nearly $360,000 thanks to the first year of a Municipal Accommodations Tax on local hotel rooms.

A staff report coming to council tomorrow night shows the tax brought in $982,000.

That’s about $90,000 more than projected.

The city receives 40 percent of the total while Tourism North Bay gets 60 percent, with their share used to promote tourism.

As for where the city’s money should be spent, a staff report outlines recommendations like funding tourism related infrastructure projects, financing new projects, improving venue capacity and more.
