The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund has announced $72,000 in funding for the Almaguin Highlands region to foster tourism and economic growth.

The Association for the Promotion of Arts, Recreation and Culture (PARC) in South River is receiving $45,500 for the Explore South River project.

The money will be used to market regional events and attractions, bring community stories to life and highlight the value of the region’s arts, recreation and culture.

The rest- around $26,000 will go to Almaguin Community Economic Development to develop a regional brand strategy.
