A North Bay business that has been adjusting physician scheduling services during COVID-19 has received $149,000 in funding from the province.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says the money comes out of the governments Ontario Together Fund.

Fedeli says MetricAid has done a fantastic job in scheduling as the health industry has had to react to COVID-19 in a rapidly changing world.

“They have the expertise. Their location isn’t an issue. They won’t tell you this but they deal world wide. They have a quality team, they do quality work and they put out a great product,” he says.

CEO Les Blackwell says they had to adjust on the fly when COVID-19 started to impact hospital staffing schedules.

“We had a couple of hospitals in Ontario that had to quarantine some physicians. And that created a very large HR shortage. Our team scrambled to try and build adequate templates to ensure there was adequate staffing coverage,” Blackwell says.

The company located on McIntyre Street in North Bay has increased its staff since March and plans to move next year to a bigger location on Main Street.
