Despite COVID-19 changing everything in our world no cancer treatments at the North Bay Regional Health Centre were impacted.

Paul Heinrich is the President and Chief Executive Officer.

“I’m very proud of the fact that our surgical team kept everyone safe and ensured those priority surgeries never ceased during the height of the pandemic,” he says.

Heinrich told BayToday these are trying times with a lot of unpredictability but the community continues to support the hospital whether it’s sending food to staff at the height of the pandemic or supporting fundraising efforts.

“They’ve given us money to buy important lab testing equipment so that we can test COVID in a rapid fashion. This is an example in the short term how are community has adapted to the current needs,” Heinrich says.

He made his comments during the Osprey Links Charity Golf Gala which raised over $34,500 to support the purchase of medical equipment so that patients being treated for cancer can get that treatment locally.
