Octomesters are coming to secondary schools at the Near North District School Board.

After earlier announcing quadmesters the board now says the ministry has suggested a further reduction in contacts at school.

Students will now take one course at a time for about 20 days of full-day instruction before taking the next course, and so on.

The first octomester would run from September 9th – October 9th for a total of 24 days.

Officials say there are many positives for their students with this model, including and most prominently, the increased safety for our students as they remain with one cohort of students each day, for the duration of the course.

They say parents can contact their school principal with any questions.
