The Ontario Energy Board is looking for input as they develop rules to allow electricity customers to opt out of time-of-use pricing in favour of tiered pricing on November 1st.

The OEB says under tiered prices, a customer can use a certain amount of electricity each month at a lower price.

Once that limit is exceeded, the price goes up.

Time-of-use offers different rates for different parts of the day, with cheaper rates during mid and off-peak times.

Officials say tiered pricing gives consumers the flexibility to use electricity at any time of day at a fixed price while still encouraging conservation.

Right now the fixed COVID-19 Recovery Rate is in place until October 31st.
